Children Angels of God Project's PledgePage
Name of the Project: Children Angels of God Project (CHAGOP)
The Nature of the Project: Non-Governmental, Non-profit making, Community Based Christian Child Ministry, Matt. 25:34-40, James 1:27, Mark 10:13-16. Country Location: Kenya District: Kisii Central district Division: Kiogoro Village: Menyinkwa Contact person: Kennedy Gichaba Director CHAGOP Po box 176-40200 Kisii, Kenya Mission Statement: We devotedly stand as advocates for destitute children, using God-given resources to release them from the bondage of poverty, enhance their academic status, give health care, expose them socially and help them exploit spiritual gifts and potential, so that they become positive change agents in the community. Background All children are potentially vulnerable, they need protection. However, children in difficult circumstances require extra help. They have different types of problems. These problems need to be separately understood in order to establish appropriate help, for the individual child or group of children. Physical emotional, spiritual guidance, social care and protection. This puts their survival at risk. The crisis of children left behind by AIDS is a humanitarian development and human rights challenge of unprecedented proportions. More than 15 million children have been orphaned to date, with that number expected to climb to 40 million by 2010, as predicted by UNAIDS, WHO and the US Bureau of Census. These 40 million orphans will range in age from a few weeks to young adulthood, with the bulk being from 5 to 15 years of age. They will primarily reside in sub-Saharan Africa, Kenya included. The aged and the young are being left to care for each other as best they can. They face severe material and psychological hardships that aggravate existing poverty. In light of the immensity of this crisis and the grave threat that it presents to the stability of affected countries and well beyond, an immediate and massive expansion of the international response is a moral and strategic imperative. CHAGOP, an initiative of Pr.John Omae Onyambu and Kennedy Gichaba of Deliverance International Church of Menyinkwa, is a church managed response to the orphans’ crisis in Kiogoro division of Kisii, a region that is hard hit by HIV/AIDS leading to a large number of orphans. Because the AIDS pandemic and its impact on children and communities are enormous, we seek to foster relationships with other groups (religious, philanthropic, educational, corporate and governmental) who are working in this arena. In these relationships we look to exchange knowledge, learning, promote awareness and activism and raise support for orphans hardest hit by AIDS. Purpose or Aims: In response to spiritual mandate of love and compassion, Children Angels of God Project-Kenya (CHAGOP) aims to minister to needy children, releasing them from the bondage of poverty and enabling them to become fulfilled adults. As such, CHAGOP assisted Children will become equipped in the following ways: • Be Christians in faith and deed. • Be responsible members of their family, church and community. • Support themselves and share with others in need • Maintain their physical well-being Further, CHAGOP aims to increase awareness and build understanding among caring people concerning the problems facing the needy children. CHAGOP Philosophy: We believe every child is a unique creation of God we accept the command of Jesus when He said, “suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid then not for such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). We believe every child is of promise and that each has a right to discover and develop his God-given potential. However, millions of children living in developing countries are too hungry and malnourished, too diseased and poverty stricken to develop as God intended. Since we also believe children are the world’s most valuable resource, we purpose to help them reach their God-given potential. We believe that the well-being of child, present and future is conditioned by his or her surroundings. Therefore, we can improve the surroundings; we can improve the well-being of the child. For example, the well-being of a child is affected by conditions in his or her family. The well-being of a family is affected by conditions in the church and community, the well-being of community is affected by the larger society or country and its government.CHAGOP believes that as we minister to the families, churches and communities we will enhance the development of children into productive Christian adults. We believe to ministering to the whole person. People are neither “soulless stomachs” nor “stomach less souls.” We recognize that “man cannot live by bread alone …” As Jesus taught, “Life is more than food and the body more than clothing”, we do understand. Therefore, that “fullness of life” and fulfillment in life can be found only through a personal faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, we also believe that if we are to follow the teaching and example of Jesus Christ, we must share His compassion and concern to “feed the hungry”, clothe the naked, house the homeless and heal the sick. We are therefore committed to people’s physical, material, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. What you can do As you may know, our CHAGOP budget is based on prayer - every year we ask God what He wants us to spend on ministry areas and then we just add the "set costs" of supporting a child for a year. This year our total budget is Kshs800, 000 with Ksh108,600 for prayer-based ministry expenses. At the current date, May 18, 2007, we are still about Kshs480,000 short of our budget goal. Here is where you can help: 1) Help raise awareness within your church. 2) Pray for God to rain down on us with the financial help that only He can provide. 3) Ask friends/family/co-workers etc. - whoever you feel led to - to support our children's project. 4) Sponsor a child fully for a year or more in terms of education support and basic needs@$200 5) Sponsor the basic needs of 1 child for a year @ $100 6) Sponsor a mosquito net for 20 kids @$60 Statement of Faith- what we believe: We believe the bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant word of God (2Tim. 3:15-17, 2Peter 1:21). We believe there is only one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit (Gen.1:1, Deut. 6:4, Matt. 28:18, Jn.10:30) We believe in the Deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Is. 7:14, Matt.1:23, Lk. 1:34-35); His sinless life (Heb.4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (ICor.15:3, Eph. 1:7, Heb. 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25, ICor. 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mk. 16:19); His personal return to earth in glory and power (Act. 1:11, Rev. 19: 11-16) We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for the salvation of man because of the exceeding sinfulness of the human nature, and that all are justifies on the single ground of the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s grace through faith alone are we saved (Eph. 2:8-10, Titus 3:5) We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life and those who are not unto the resurrection of damnation (Jn.5:29). We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:9, ICor. 12:12-13), Gal. 3:26-28). We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Rom. 8:13-14, I Cor. 3: 16, 6:19, Eph. 4:30, 5:18). We believe that we as Christians are examples of the love of God in this world. It is this (agape) love that we desire to possess and without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians (John 4:16-17). |
